University Study Results
San Diego State University did a recent study to determine which abdominal exercises were the most effective, and the results might surprise you.
Coming in first place was the Bicycle Crunch. This was found to be particularly effective in working the rectus abdominus, one of the most prominent and important abdominal muscles.
Next in line of the best abdominal exercises was the Captain’s Chair routine. This requires gym equipment, unless you have a well equipped home gym set up.
Abdominal crunches using an exercise ball was also found to be very effective.
Leg crunches (vertical) came in next in order of effectiveness. It is important to note, as discussed above, that this exercise is effective even though it does not seem to be targeting the abdominal muscles.
The same is true for the next most effective abdominal muscle exercises, the Long Arm Crunch, the Reverse Crunch, and the Basic Crunch.
So there are many exercises which are effective for the abdomen, and you should develop a plan where you rotate the exercises.
The most important thing is that you must be consistent.
And you must also get your diet right, so that you are burning belly fat as well as developing your abdominal muscles.
